My Take - Android Vs iOS

Yes yes yes, another one of my "w00t! Android" blogs you say.
Not really. This is more about pros and cons of the two of the leading Smart Phone OS I have used.
Be warned, this is purely a personal take on the subject, and while everyone one is entitled to an opinion, so am I!
Quick background check about my credentials for this subject- proud owner of an iPod 3g and an Android(2.1) Mi 300, so well, I think I may know a thing or two.

Android - By Google- Need I say more?
iOS- By Apple - Lets not make it Google vs Apple ;)

Statement
Android is My Communication Device.
iOS is My Entertainment Device.
Justifications:

Why iOS My Entertainment Device:
Let the games begin!
1.Retina Display(4th Gen onwards) - Fancy name!It is actually Ultra high pixel resolution that blows away your mind with Graphics- Try "Mirror's Edge" on iOS.
2.Three-axis gyro & Accelerometer- Superb Motion gaming(also there on Android, but as I said, communication device!)
3.Availability of Games - Lets face it guys.Apple is a marketing genius. The developers of games for iOS earn a fortune and this may never be the case with Android. Most of the games are developed first for Apple and then ported to Android.Money makes the world go round!

Why iOS is not My Communication Device and implicitly, why Android is Not my Entertainment Device?
I can hear you.Who keeps two gadgets man! lets bundle this into one, the iPhone! Nah nah, try gaming on your iPhone and watch it suck the battery to death.
So what I prefer is having my iPod, just to play games or listen to music so that I don't get stranded in the middle of nowhere without a phone!!!
and TRUST me, the awesomeness of playing games on the iOS cannot be matched on any other device.

Why Android is My Communication Device:
My favorite part of this blog(yes am biased ok!)
Well, to begin with, the Android is a very open device.By open I mean, I can easily customize it to the way I want my phone to be. The seamless integration with Google stores all my contacts, SMS, calenders with my gmail account.I dont have to worry about backup of my data because, well, everything is on my Gmail account now!Forget about loosing your contacts if phone gets trashed or transferring contacts from one phone to another.Sign in to gmail and Fiat Lux!
Integrates Facebook as well, so all the contacts, birthdays, images in my phone so easily is awesomeness personified.
Plus - Apple has said it will never support Flash on browser.Android 2.2 supports Flash.
So if you intend to do a lot of web surfing on your phone, some of the flash content websites will say no to you on the iOS.
Then there is the concept of widgets. I love them! you have a widget for everything!
news, weather,Fb, Twitter,GMail, SMS you name it you got it.Everything within the shortest "Click Distance"(Google it- term patented by ChangingWorlds Amdocs).
However, the 2.1 android is not as snappy as the iOS on iPhone 4 (courtesy Ayush's Phone).
But I think this is partly because of the processor on my phone ARMv6.The 1 GHz Snapdragon and HummingBird Processors on Nexus One and Nexus S ,especially on Gingerbread, will do justice to this.

Did I hear anyone say "Nokia" or "Symbian" or "Windows Phone"?
Pthooo...Talk to the Hand!
I plan to keep this blog updated from now on and focus on gadgets I own or want to own ( so you know what to gift me ;) )
Next blog should be on ADAM - By Notion Ink or may be reviews on some of the iOS Games.

My First Android - Spice MI 300

Hello good people
I haven't blogged for ages, but my new phone has begged me to do so(smart
phone eh?). This blog will be entirely dedicated to my Android (I don't call it Spice because, well u know, android sounds so much cooler!). Some Pics of my Android screens:

The dock is scrollable up to 5 docks.I use only 3 which sufficient for me.

These are sliding screens on my phone. Most of the Applications used are paid. However you may find apk files for these paid apps on file sharing sites like 4shared. Applications I have used to achieve this are:
1. Launcher Pro Plus - This is the Home screen Launcher. Provides widgets for Facebook, People, Twitter, Calender.Sliding dock is also feature provided by this. One of the best home launchers.
2. Beautiful widget- The home screen Clock and weather. Excellent Animations of weather which change according to current weather.
3.Beautiful Live Weather - The Live wallpaper which reflects current weather.
4.Genius Widget for News and weather
5.Winamp for music controls widget on Home screen.
6. Ebo Birthday widget
7.Todo List Widget
8.SwitchPro widget for toggle of WiFi, GPS,Bluetooth etc
Apart from these I would recommend following apps:
1. Shazam- Many times I hear a song and want to know its name. Shazam is the answer.
2.Rigdroid- Easily cut your favourite parts of a song and set it as ringtone or notification.
3.MP3 Music box and Music Wizard - Search and download MP3 easily
4. RockPlayer - Video player- Pays most formats efficiently
5. Tuner - Excellent App to tune your guitar
6. Camera 360 Pro - Amazing camera App with lot of effects. Personal favourite is "commercial" effect.
7.ShootMe - Capture screenshots of you phone screen.
8. Advance Task Killer - Task Manger
9.Titanium Backup - Backup your applications
10.Cache Cleaner NG- Clear cache data.

Voila, your awesome android is ready for you!

When I bought it, it was on Android 1.6(cupcake) , within few days Spice released the update for 2.1(eclair). I updated it to spice official upgrade, but didn't like it much.I have experimented with a lot of ROMS - Spice official 1.6,Spice official 2.1,Firetrap, Optimus official 2.1 , and even Cyanogen 6.1 stable(froyo). Personal experience with froyo not so great as my phone froze a lot and i was not able to use headset button for answering calls.Firetrap was great for sometime but I have settled down on Optimus official 2.1 for now.I may switch to Cyanogen again sometime in future.
Googling led me to http://boston-mania.blogspot.com/ where I got to know that this phone is actually Commitva Z71 and its sold under a lot of names in many countries. This blog actually gets a lot of informaton from www.androidpt.com, which is the best forum for this phone(Optimus Boston).
Though it is in Portuguese , you can use chrome browser to auto translate this page in English.
You can find all details to switch between Roms on this forum.

If you also have a Spice MI 300(or its clone) I would like to know about various mods you have done to your device or if you have any interesting apps to share.
Cheers!
