Phew!! its counselling time, and surat is the worst place to be during this time.People swarming from all over gujarat! And our "ongc parivaar" is so huge that you invariably end up knowing everyone through people.
Believe me, i havent answered so many phone calls and repeated the same things over and over again ever before. Feels like am the customer care of SVNIT !
Typical conversation:
Bakra: hello bhaiya, aap svnit mein padhte ho?
My Mind : nahi padhta nahi hu :-p, abey get to the point yaar!
My Tongue: ya, bolo?
bakra:accha, my rank is ***** and am getting XYZ inABC place, how is the college?
mind: abey mujhe kya pata mere baap..
tongue: ya the college is good.
Bakra: acha, mujhe surat bhi mil raha hai, and here am getting electronics, how is electronics here?
Mind: huh.. you have picked the wrong guy dude!
Tongue:its good if u have an aptitude for it(safe answer!)
Bakra:ok..what do you suggest i should go for?
Mind: stop it! am not your carreer counseller!
Tongue: depends what you want to be. all the top colleges are good.and job prospects are bright, so see where you will be comfortable.
Bakra: ok.thank you bhaiya..
Mind: thank you for ending this!
Tongue: no problem!
Don't get me wrong, its not tha i dont want to help these "children".. but it gets frustrating after a point of time! i have more important things like..aaa..preparing for cat..ahem ahem.. than comparing each and every branch of each and every college!
P.S.
ok. i have re read this post and i am sounding really really mean.. so i promise i'l be nicer to people who call me next time. And for those who have called earlier, my mind is sorry for being rude!

To CAT or NOT TO CAT??
As an "almost "engineer(3/4th according to my marksheets, although my brain has dutifully rejected all the information I tried to stuff in it during these years).. everyone around me is planning to become an MBA..err lemme correct myself, an IIM mba.I ,on the other hand, have been drifting away from these thoughts.I might as well blame this on the fact that I have a decent job in hand, which mind you is something related to what I always wanted to do in my life, and it is a great opportunity to correct my mistake of joining electronics engineering, plus the fact that i'l be posted in Pune, which is NOT A DRY PLACE(wink).Jokes apart,I really feel that I can make a career in the software industry, though people have led me to believe that I can do the same even after an MBA in Systems, I somehow wouldnt like to repeat the same mistake again.. mistake??? oh well thats a sad long story, but to cut it short, I had opted for Computer engineering(computers are my first love) here and then got a slide to Electronics(yuk! yuk! spit..) engineering( still dread that three legged monster ie.. transistor). Its one of those decisions that I regret in my life.i have a feeling that MBA might turn out to be another mishap.
But sticking to the saying"dont count the chicken's before they hatch", preparation or catting as I call it, is still on the cards!
